Hi,
Hope all is well with you! Did you get plenty of sunshine, or plenty of rain like me? I hate the rain. In Georgia, it doesn't know when to stop, I might have to build an Ark before long! The weatherman said it will be over by Sunday, and hearing that, my heart leapt for joy. Now bring on the burning hot sun, the smothering air, and enough pollen to choke a horse — and I love it! 😄 Summertime. It's my favorite time of the year.
What's your favorite season? Hit reply and let me know, and please don't say winter. People who love the cold worry me — lol. Just teasing! We like what we like, right?
You're probably ready for me to get on with The Mash Up. Well, say no more!
What's Ahead / Writing
Let me start by asking — what's ahead for you? Anything exciting going on or coming up? If so, I hope it serves your heart!
As for me, nothing too exciting. I'm still editing my novella and my full-length novel. It saddens me to say it takes me a while to get it all done. I'm just slow, and I'll own that! Oddly, I didn't used to be that way. But as age sets in, and between working and keeping house, I can only devote about two hours a day to writing, editing, and other things like newsletters and promotions. And truthfully, I don't want to sit in front of a computer for hours on end — I do enough of that at work.
Some in the writing community might say I'm not serious about the craft — that since I don't spend an exorbitant amount of time writing, or put out at least three to four books a year or a book a month, I'm just a hobbyist without a real writing business. And there could be some truth in that. But I don't want to experience burnout, and I don't want to make my health issues any worse than they already are. All I can say is, I hope the Lord extends my shelf life so I may see more of my writing come to fruition.
And hey — since money is a little tight for everyone right now, I've dropped the prices on all my books! My novellas are $0.99 and my novels are $1.99, and they'll stay that way for the time being. If you haven't grabbed one yet, now is a great time! Just click the link below and take a look! 👇
What I'm Reading / Read
The last book I finished was White Butterfly by Walter Mosley — I posted the full review on my website. Head over and check it out — and while you're there, let me know in the comments if you've read anything by Walter Mosley!
While I was reading it, I decided to pick up a second book at the same time and settled on a romance novel by Jenny Hale. So far, I'm loving it! My roots are in romance novels, romance movies, and period piece dramas.

I'll admit I slipped into the Mystery, Thriller, and Suspense genre for a while — mostly because I had reached burnout overload with romance books. But I think the drought is over, and I'm finally easing back to my first love. I so missed the romance genre!
What I'm Watching / Watched
🎬 Movie Quote: "Make a move and the bunny gets it."
Anyone know what movie that's from? Hit reply if you know. And no Googling! 😄
The Hardacres (on BritBox) — an excellent series, a must-watch! Outlander — the finale wrapped up and it's over. I shed a tear knowing the show will be no more. The Other Bennet Sister (on BritBox) — a good series!
I also revisited some old favorites: Jumanji (Robin Williams), Con Air (Nicolas Cage — his character has a terrible Southern accent, but it's still a good movie! 😄), National Treasure 1 & 2, The Pickup (Keke Palmer & Eddie Murphy), Breaking In (Gabrielle Union), Epic (Josh Hutcherson, Colin Farrell, Amanda Seyfried & Beyoncé), One Crazy Summer (John Cusack — I love him. And it’s a must watch movie from the 80s), Bad Girls (Madeleine Stowe & Drew Barrymore) Hot Tub Time Machine (John Cusack), and Transformers — it was on TV, but I wasn’t really watching it)
I’m sure there were a few more, but I can’t remember.
Well, thanks for reading The Mash Up!
See ya!
Nola.
