Hi! I can't believe another month has come and gone. Where does the time go? You know, Neil deGrasse Tyson says the reason time seems to fly by so quickly is because our brains aren't absorbing anything new as we grow older.

Well, anyway, I hope the month of April wasn't too overwhelming for you, like the last five days were for me. What happened? I'm so glad you asked! I had a critter underneath my house that scared me to death. I was ready to leave my own home and move in with a relative. That's how serious it was for me.

It wasn't a mouse. It was something large. I knew by the way it scratched and clawed. It was as if it was trying to get in and get me. Eeek! It gives me the heebie-jeebies just thinking about it. I had to call a trapper. He came and set out five cages, and we caught it the next day.

I'm scared of just about everything! I think I have pantophobia (side joke, a nod to Charlie Brown). But honestly, I do feel that way at times. Country living ain't for the faint of heart. Well, that's enough of my rambling, let's get into The Mash Up: a new monthly newsletter.

Oh, it was a possum, by the way. Eeek!

What's Ahead / Writing / Exciting News

First off, what are you working on? I hope it's something exciting!

As for me, I'm still in my editing cave, wrapping up my novella. I'm moving slowly and I'm not sure why. I wish I could speed things up! I'm also rewriting and revising a novel. I'm hoping to finish the novella by the weekend so I can send it to my editor. I'm ready to move on to the next story that's screaming in my head, "I'm next!" LOL.

Hey, by the way — since money is a little tight and reading is one of your favorite enjoyments, I did a price change on all my books. My novellas are $0.99 and my novels are $1.99, and they'll stay that way for the time being!

Book cover featuring "Walter Mosley" in bold yellow, with a noir film scene, "White Butterfly" title, and a butterfly outline above a church.

What I'm Reading

The last book I read was a Freida McFadden book, and I posted the review on my website.

I'm currently reading White Butterfly by Walter Mosley an Easy Rawlins novel. I didn't think I wanted to read another book by him, though my hesitation had nothing to do with his storytelling. It was more about the time period his stories take place in and the vernacular used. But it's growing on me, and so far the novel is really interesting. I'll let you know more once I'm done!

What I'm Watching / Watched

Thrash (not good). Mercy (okay.) Sarah's Oil (good). Send Help (okay).

I watched Episodes 7 & 8 of Outlander Season 8 (it's heating up! I cried during Episode 7.

Mercury Rising (Bruce Willis) — a good one! A young boy with autism cracks a government secret code, and Bruce must protect him. The Golden Compass. Hiding Out (an old Jon Cryer movie. I never realized how inappropriate it was when it came out back then)!

And some oldie favorites: Tammy Tell Me True, Tammy and the Doctor, and The Snoop Sisters (a precursor to Murder She Wrote).

I think I'm missing a few shows, but strangely I can't remember them!

Well, that's all for now. Thanks for reading The Mash Up!
